The locals now call it SoBe.
Well, so be it! You may have heard recently that
it's become one of the hottest nightlife places
in the USA, with celebrities queuing up to open
trendy bars and restaurants here.
Madonna, as always, started the trend, and she's
been joined by stars as diverse as Ricky Martin
and Cameron Diaz. The clothes shops are the coolest
around, you can buy funky design items for your
home, stroll around ultra-modern art galleries
and people watch in the street-side cafes.
The old art deco hotels started being renovated
in the 80's and now the whole area is a gorgeous
palette of pastel colours, neon signs, portholes
and sleek square lines.
The beach itself is long with white sand, and
in your car you can drive to other wonderful beaches
and classy shopping malls.

Opinion:
This hotel has a cool and distibctive design an
is looking excellent after its renovation. It enjoys
a great location just one block from the main action,
within easy walking distance from the Washington
Avenue, Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive. |

Location;
On Collin Avenue, one block from Ocean Drive and
the beach. Lots of excellent restaurants shops and
nightclubs.
Opinion;
It's the veritable beacon of Collins Avenue style,
that groovy neon sign pointing up into the sky.
The exterior 'Cruise Liner' motif also permeates
the interior, and a lovely courtyard with swimming
pool and sunning deck makes it a great place to
rest up in the afternoons. |

Location:
One block walk from Ocean Drive. Walking distance
of beach, shops, restaurants and nightclubs.
Opinion:
Despite being just one block behind Ocean Drive
and the beach, this is a tranquil place.The terracotta
terrace out front gives the hotel a self-contained
air> The food in the Blue Moon restaurant has
won awards and we think the leopard skin chairs
and carpet deserve an award too. |
