For those who feel Chaweng has grown too large and commercialised we recommend one of the other beaches which are quieter and more typically Thai but within easy reach of Chaweng for a night out.

It is terraced up a straight hill, surrounded by palm trees and a 10 minutes walk from the lively Chaweng beach and town.

Opinion:
This is an intimate hotel with tranquil view of Chaweng Lake on the east coast of Koh Samui. The Hibiscus restaurant serves a superb range of international and Thai cuisine, while the Coconut bar is open for snacks and drinks by the poolside and the Alize Bar opens for cocktails. There is an attractive free-form swimming pool.

Location:
On the southern tip of Koi Samui in the middle of Laem Set Beach about 20 minutes drive from the airport. A coral reef encircles the white sandy beach creating a lagoon with calm seas for both swimming and snorkelling.

Opinion:
 Its sister property, Central Samui Beach Resort, is located in Chaweng although the two resorts are very different in style the village being smaller and more personal. These include Reef Cafe - a beachfront restaurant offering international and Thai cuisine.

One of the quieter picturesqu Cheong Mon Beach. Ten minutes drive from both the airport and the nightllfe of Chaweng.

Opinion:
This long time favourite of the British and European visitors re-opened in late 2000 after a few months of closure for major renovation project.
There are two swimming pools, one a novel boat shape close to the beach and a new Thai Garden Pool complete with fountains.

Set amidst the coconut trees. this property is just 10 minutes from the airport and is ideal for who are content to simply relax in the comfortable surrounds of the hotel.

Opinion:
An intimate and friendly resort on quiet Maenam Beach in the north of the island with lovly views towards neighbouring Koh Pha Ngan island The Paradise Terrace Restaurant serves fresh seafood, Thai and international cuisine and there is an adjacent Italian restaurant that has become popular with locals and expats alike.

Opinion:
The hotel is built in a colonial style an extensive private grounds. All guest rooms overlook the manicured lawns.
