New York City isn't one place, it's a hundred different places, all jostling for your attention.

From the uptown Glitz of the Upper West Side to the downtown bohemian chic of the West Village, from Chinatown to Little Italy, from Murray Hill to Midtown, you are presented with entirely different sights, sounds and even smells in each neighbourhood.

As if this weren't enough, interesting new areas keep on springing up with their trendy acronyms. The latest is DUMBO (we kid you not - it stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass!).

Make a vague plan of what you want to see, but beware - the fizzing energy of Manhattan is bewitching, and it could carry you completely off course.

Never mind - adventures are always guaranteed in this amazing international metropolis. Just make sure you see the best sights, like the Empire State with its amazing views, and leave plenty of time for the fabulous shopping!

Milford Plaza - Medium Class back to top
Sky Jet Destinations

Location:
In the heart of midtown Manhattan's Broadway Theatre District. Short walk to subway and Time Square.

Opinion:
You couldn't be in a better location, especially if you're planning on taking in a show. Times Square, home of the Virgin Megastore, is also an easy walk. 'Celebrity' is a true, New York style deli restaurant that will have you yelling "pastrami on rye with dill pickle!" in that unique NYC manner.

Hotel Metro - Medium Class back to top
Sky Jet Destinations Location:In the heart of Midtown Manhattan, short walk from Macy's and the Empire State Building. Close to subway.

Opinion:
More than a little 1920's style chic pervades this neat little hotel, a short walk from the Empire State Building and Macy's enormous department store. On your return from a day of Manhattan sightseeing, you can head up to the roof terrace in the warmer months for a 'Sex in the City' style vodka martini.

Beacon - Medium Class back to top
Sky Jet Destinations Location:
On the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Opinion;
It's a bit quieter on the Upper West Side than in Midtown Manhattan, and the excellent local restaurants tend to be cheaper. Rooms are larger than in the centre of Manhattan, and your kitchenette means you can perhaps fix yourself some breakfast, as our American friends would say. The famous Lincoln Centre is a short walk, together with the American Museum of Natural History and Rose Centre for Earth and Space and a clutch of off-Broadway theatres.

Washington Square- First Class back to top
Sky Jet Destinations

Location:
In the heart of Greenwich Village, on Washington Square near Soho, Little Italy

Opinion:
This European-style hotel overlooks the beautiful greenery of Washington Square right in the centre of the trendy, bohemian Greenwich Village. The rooms are spacious and downstairs you'll find the critically acclaimed North Square Restaurant and Lounge where you can relax after a day's hectic sightseeing.

The Time Hotel - First Class back to top

Sky Jet Destinations

Location:

On Times Square, midtown Manhattan.

Opinion:
This bastion of minimalist style is a recent and popular addition to the city's growing pantheon of 'cool' hotels. Rooms are based on the idea of primary colours - you even get a scent to match the colour! The trendy bar is great for people watching.

Ameritania - First Class back to top

Sky Jet Destinations

Location:
Just off Broadway, in midtown Manhattan..

Opinion:
Frank Sinatra fans should make this their Manhattan base, as he and the 'Rat Pack' used to wine and dine here (with the emphasis on wine) back in the golden days of Big Band. The location is perfect, and rooms are dinkily decorated in Twenties retro fashion.

Roger Williams - Deluxe back to top

Sky Jet Destinations

Location:
In the Murray Hill district of Manhattan, close to Empire State Building.

Opinion:
If you like modern style, you'll love the look of this hotel, one of New York Magazine's 'sixteen hot hotels' in 2001. Neutral colours and sleek lines prevail, and it's all a short walk from the Empire State Building, surely your first sightseeing stop.

Raddison Hotel  - Deluxe back to top

Sky Jet Destinations

Location:
In midtown Manhattan, on Lexington Avenue.

Opinion:
You'll know famous Lexington Avenue from song lyrics, movies and the like. This famous hotel, built in 1929, was previously 'The Lexington'. Radisson completely renovated it in 2000, decorating the rooms in a neutral, modern style.
