There are those
who hanker only for sun, sea and sand, and while
there’s a world of destinations to deliver
these unambitious wishes, nowhere does it better
than Antigua.
The
climate is typically Caribbean, round nine hours
of daily sunshine, shade temperatures in the eighties
and precious little rainfall throughout the year.
The calm seas and natural harbours are a mecca
for marine craft of all shapes and sizes –
especially during Antigua Sailing Week.
And sand? The island’s unconfirmed but
undisputed claim is ‘a beach for every day
of the year’. And when they say beach, they
mean white sand in sweeping bays or secret coves
|
| So all
the essentials are in abundance, but Antigua offers
much, much more. Its captivating character of unpretentious
charm is nowhere more obvious than in the capital,
St. John’s, and there are fascinating sights
to see from Nelson’s Dockyard to Devil’s
Bridge. |
